About Zuzu

Zuzu is a performing artist and native New Yorker. She was only three
when she took her first ballet lesson at the School of Steps. She never
looked back. Dance and performance became her passion and her
focal point. It resulted in a life of defined by drive, hard work, and
creative joy, eventually leading her to many other creative challenges
and inspirations beyond the field of dance.
At ten Zuzu was accepted into Elliot Feld’s Ballet Tech, where the training
was rigorous and Zuzu blossomed into a disciplined, talented dancer,
earning spots in numerous performances. She became a member of
Mr. Feld’s premier cast for his new works, Upside Dance, KYDZNY,
Dotty Polkas, and A Yankee Doodle, as well as performed his collection
of ballets on some of New York City’s most famous stages: The Joyce
Theater, The New Victory, The Delacourte, and City Center. During this
time, Zuzu also worked with choreographers Brian Brooks (Panorama)
and Laura Careless (The Wild Current).
During her eight years at Ballet Tech, Zuzu trained with Christine Sarry, Daniel Levans, Patrice Hemsworth, Laura Careless, Tommy Scrivens, Michael Snipe, Miranda Barker, and Ashley Tuttle. She also attended classes at Julliard, studying modern dance with Risa Steinberg. In a Ballet Tech summer intensive, Zuzu learned West African, Tahitian, contemporary, tap, and theater dance.
At seventeen, she discovered her love for musical theater when she attended Broadway Artists Alliance in NYC. That same year she performed as Anybodys at the Professional Performing Arts School’s production of West Side Story. After graduating, she performed the role again in a production at the New Bedford Festival Theatre.
While studying dance with a concentration in jazz at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Zuzu worked with choreographers Jae Man Joo (Into the Light, understudy), Shana Simmons (Natural Suite), and Crystal Frazier (Legacy), acted in two student films (“Four Walls,” directed by Kate Griffth and “Daisy,” directed by Piper Srey), and a movie adaptation of “35mm: A Musical Exhibition,” music by Ryan Scott Oliver, directed by Patrick Mayoral. She graduated in 2022 with a BA in dance with minors in musical theater and screenwriting.

Most recently Zuzu premiered as 'Young Presley" with Up Theatre Company. The new play/musical entitled "The Best Punk Band in Conway, Missouri: an oral history of Presley Cox and the fallout five" Directed by Rachel Murray and written by Kirby Fields.
Zuzu’s skills include dance, singing, acting, choreography, screenwriting, directing, video editing, songwriting, and music production.
